The name says it all: it's hot and spicy! It's also the new craze across America! Salsa - a sassy, flirty and fast-paced dance - uses Salsa music. It's most commonly a partner dance with quick breaks, turns and footwork with flicks. Salsa may also be danced with other couples in the style of Rueda, where moves are called by one person and partners are exchanged throughout the dance.

International Style Ballroom Dance

Lee Santos, Master Instructor will hold group class every Wednesday during calendar year 2008. Learn Bronze and Silver groupings in a friendly intimate atmosphere. Partners rotate regularly and advanced dancers are on hand to help. This is a great way to learn international style dancing which is standardized the world over. Instruction is designed to develop these important elements: rhythm-timing; leading-following; alignment; figures; frame and connection. These elements are important for developing floor craft and the character of the dance. Beginner/Intermediate level with some previous dance experience preferred (could be swing/ballet/C&W, etc)
Drop-ins welcome. $15 per class. Partner not required.
Lee Santos currently resides in the Shenandoah Valley and travels to Charlottesville weekly to teach his private students and to coach the UVA Ballroom Club. This is a rare opportunity for those wishing to take lessons from a licensed adjudicator and former 3x U.S. Champion.
