Casino Rueda

Web: http://www.DanceInTimeProductions.com

Casino Rueda, a lively and social group form of Salsa, is taught for all levels of dancers. Beginners/advanced beginners are at 5:00 and intermediate/advanced students have class at 6:15. Students are encouraged to stay after the 5:00 class and practice on the floor at no additional charge, and those in the 6:15 class are encouraged to take the 5:00 class for review at no charge. The basic charge is $8 for a one hour class at 5 and $10 for the hour and a half class that begins 6:15. Ask about the student discount.

Occasionally, we have studio parties in the evening where one big group Rueda class is taught. On those Sundays, class is later than usual. So email Barb to be sure you get the up to date schedule. Barbbtalks@aol.com

The class is taught by Barbara Bernstein. Barb has had extensive Rueda experience and taught in many venues, from nightclubs, athletic facilities, and dance studios to Parks and Recreation Departments. In addition, she produces Latin dance shows for venues as varied as the Kennedy Center and the D.C.Convention Center to outdoor street festivals. (See the website for more info: www.DanceInTimeProductions.com ) Barb has also produced a CD for dance instruction in which she counts the quicks and slows as a voice over the music. That way, students can concentrate on the steps while the CD helps them mark the time. For the Rueda classes, there is a description of the steps in writing that students are given to help them remember which step is which. This is a very helpful tool, particularly as the steps become more numerous and more complex!

The class is very friendly, lively, and fun. No partner is needed and newcomers are always welcome. Come by and check us out.
