DanceNet's DanceNews eMail Updates and
The Mid-Atlantic DanceNet Web Site combination got its start in the summer of
1996, with five or six Dancers in the Washington, D.C., area sending one
another eMail messages about Dance parties and TV Dance programs. As the eMail
list grew, Mike Gordon, the webmaster, saw the
opportunity for a local/central source website that would supply Dancers with
information on Dance news and upcoming events. DCDanceNet evolved
rapidly from the early days as a small eMail list to the present combination of
the DanceNews eMail Updates with more than 4000
Dancers subscribed, and the Mid-Atlantic DanceNet
Web Site, which attracts more than thirty five hundred visitors a
week.
Beginning with the Ballroom Dance scene, DCDanceNet grew
rapidly in response to the overwhelming demand for information on
all types of Dancing. Coverage has expanded to include Ballroom,
Swing, Hustle, Latin/Salsa, Shag, Argentine Tango, Clogging, Square Dancing,
Tap links to Country & Western, and more. New styles and categories are
added as Dancers from the local area and beyond send in a constant stream of
Dance news, and information for DanceNet's
DanceNews eMail Updates and Website Event Calendars.
