Coming to you LIVE from the Living Arts Series stage in downtown Burtonsville is the Olney Big Band presenting the "Golden Age of Big Band Radio.” Please join us to experience those classic radio commercials, wonderful big band theme songs, and vocals which will bring back the days of remote broadcasts from such famous places as the Savoy, Roseland, and Cotton Club ballrooms. Featured will be many of the historic tunes made famous by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Woody Herman and the like. Ballroom/Swing dancers welcome! Friday Evening, February 28th - Lesson from 7-8pm, Dancing until 11pm
Saturday Evening, February 29th - Lesson from 7-8pm, Dancing until 11pm and
Sunday Afternoon, March 1st - Lesson from 1-2pm, Dancing until 5pm This will be the last Dance of the current ownership. We have scheduled it this way so that all our regular patrons, from all three dances, will be able to share in the festivities. Included will be a lite fare dinner, desserts, beverages, Champagne and a Wine Selection. We will also be showing a slide show, on the big screen, of most of our regular patrons, throughout the years. Also, as part of the celebration, I think it would be a nice addition to include a few Dance Performances, with Couples, Teams or even Singles donating their talents for the event. This socially distant exhibition will feature local artists: Michael Colonello, Lauren Silex, Qrcky, and Lydia Russell. This collection of works is an assortment of visual oddities. Focusing on the surreal and curious parts of existence. This event will be on October 30th from 6-8 pm at Mount Vernon Marketplace located at 520 Park Ave, Baltimore, MD 21202. The reception will include a pop-up marketplace with prints & merchandise from the featured artists, artist storytelling, a showcase where the artists will tell the stories behind their works and inspirations. There will also be a special performance by “The Jeffers”, the local band of one of our featured artists, Michael Colonello.
